WATSONS BAY HOUSE
Builder:Bright Build
Architect:Ian Moore Architects
This award winning contemporary take on a weatherboard cottage is located in Watsons Bay Heritage Conservation area. The project was a full rebuild which meant electrically everything was brand new.
The architect carefully selected trimless light fittings, switches and power points are all seamlessly blend into this beautiful new home. Trimless fittings and fixtures require a high level of attention to detail as the margin for error is high. If they are not perfect, they simply don’t work. Casambi smart lighting controls enable select light fittings to be controlled via smart phone.
Sustainability is also a feature with the house incorporating solar panels on the roof, electric vehicle charging, hydronic underfloor heating with electric heat pump. The hot water was also serviced by the three-phase electric heat pump. The open plan design and good cross flow ventilation means that air conditioning was not required.

BISMARCK HOUSE
Builder:Robert Plumb Build
Architect:Andrew Burgess Architects
This is one of our favorite projects to date. Awesome builder and architect, great clients. This was a project we really enjoyed being part of.
The home went through a major transformation. From an old post war semi, to a very unique, architecturally designed, award winning and unique home.
Electrically it is very restrained and minimalistic. Some beautiful feature pendant and wall lights highlight the simplistic design. The use of pull cord switches and track lighting recessed into the off-form concrete ceiling required precision. The kitchen island pendant light with the cord that disappears into the concrete ceiling also required us to think outside the square.

Gable House
Builder:Robert Plumb Build
Architect: Potter & Wilson
Built in tandem with Bismarck house next door, this was one of my first jobs with the builder and has lead to a strong working relationship over the past 5 years. Completely different in design to Bismarck House, for me this is pretty much the perfect home.
It has everything you could want in a busy beach side suburb like Bondi. Off street parking, pool for the kids, separate media/TV room to watch the footy. What more could you want?
The designer nailed the lighting choice and layout. The trimless down lights blend seamlessly into the ceiling. We particularly love the steep gable ceiling on the upper floor extension.

Altair Apartment
Builder:Robert Plumb Build
Architect:Andrew Macdonald – Allied Office
In this major unit renovation, we were faced with an interesting challenge – the conventional ceiling plasterboard was being removed. The existing concrete slab that separates this unit, from the one above would become the ceiling. This meant exposed services on the ceiling and a need for us to get creative and figure out ways to hide the electrical cabling.

Birchgrove Cottage
Builder:Adon Projects
Architect:Passer Architects
Completed a few years ago now, this tired old workers cottage was in desperate need of some love. Electrically we started again on this one. The meter panel and switchboard were upgraded, we installed new main earth and RCD (safety switch) circuit breakers. All the old cabling was stripped out and was fully rewired.

Darling Point apartment
Builder:Bright Build
Architect:Studio Zawa
As electricians, we usually prefer when the lighting and other electrical fixture and fittings are on show. This project is an exception. Almost all lighting is indirect, giving the space a very calm and warm feel at night. Electric underfloor heating throughout ensure this apartment is always warm and cosy.
All light fittings are recessed and hidden, in fact there isn’t a light fitting in sight! All lighting is provided by carefully positioned LED strip lighting. At first we thought there might not be enough light, but the architects nailed it and it’s perfect. This one really is a showcase of less is more.
